Hound-Dog Haberdashery Posted by Chris Arveson on Nov 07, 2008
Ralph thought his hat was pretty cool until he found out that the police in this show are a little on the corrupt side, always aiding the bad guy. Even so, he's never played a bad guy before, so he is excited that he is breaking out of his type-casting.
I've been puzzling for a couple weeks on how I was going to make a Keystone Cops-type helmet. I knew that was what I wanted, I just wasn't sure how I would do it. I finally decided on using foam, and after four prototypes, I'm pretty pleased with the final result. I ended up making it out of six panels glued together. I tried a couple times with four panels, but it came out too square.
Now I am haberdasher to the stars! I have one more character that will wear a hat, but fortunately, I found just the right one in the Halloween costumes last year. It was a cool hat, so I bought it right after Halloween, without knowing if I would ever use it. As I was planning out the costumes for this show, I realized that the hat would be perfect.
