well... here's the idea:  You know the mean fish in Finding Nemo.  The one with the really big teeth and the fishing fly thingy attached ?  Well I want to make a cute cuddly version for a silly fish that doesn't realize that the fly thingy is part of him and every time he says " I'm a little hungry" in a very cute Hispanic voice like my good friend, an LED light goes on in the fly thingy and the fishes eyes go cross-eyed and he chases his own lure and of course the hi-jinks ensue.  Here's the problems:  How to attach the fly/lure thingy so it stays front and center,  how to wire up an LED, and how to make the eyes cross and go back to normal.  Maybe this is too much for me but I'm gonna try!  Any help would be so awesome!

They're called angler fish.  The one in Finding Nemo was a stylized version of one.  there are a bunch of pictures on the web.

I think the character idea you have is great.  Becareful making him too one dimensional other wise all you'll be able to do with him is have him chase his light.  Funny but even more funny if its something that gets in the way of his other wise noral life.

If you put a coat hanger or some other stiff wire in the "antenna" it would keep it out front.
You could also put a loop on the end of the wire, inside the head so you could use a finger to move it back and forth.
For the light, I would go look at Christmas lights that they make for the little decorative cities.
They have some that are LED and battery operated.
For the eyes crossing, I don't know, because fish usually have their eyes on opposite sides of their heads, so I don't know how that will work.

I would skip the cross eyed effect.  More then likely it is not going to read unless you plan to use this for TV or Film.  Remember that gags like that are effective in things like TV and Film because they can focus on the gag it self i.e. a close up of the eyes.  You don't really have this ability in live theater.  

For the lure you could use what is called spring wire/piano wire. I can find it here in KC in a locally owned (old fashion) hardware store.  It can also be found often in Hobby stores.  It is wire that has memory to it.  It normally is sold in three or four foot lengths and is not on a roll because it's memory is to be straight. If you get it in a small enough gauge you can add weight to the end of the wire (the lure) and it well cause the wire to arch or bend slightly once you anchor it in the head of the puppet. You can give it a slight curve if you need by using tools to forceably bend it.

For wiring the led light visit your local Radio Shack. The clerks at Radio Shack are normally very good at helping you figure out what you need for such special projects. Let them know what you are trying to do and get them evolved. It adds a bit of excitement to their life.!

Yeah, skip the crossed eyes at this point.  Even with film I know they often build two puppets one for action and the other for closeups of the face.  it's just to hard to animate the facial expressions while moving around with the puppet.

check into LED's for the light there are several colors available.  You might also use refrigeration tubing for the antenna.  It's hollow so you can running the wiring in side.  then again it might be larger than you're waning the antenna to be.  Anyway, check into it.  You can find it at most hardware stores.

Nice sketch.  Looks like a very friendly character which is cool since angler fish are predatory.  Can't wait to see how the build turns out.
