People probably would buy one. Cost is a tough one. There is no "right" price. You have to factor in how long it takes to make, the cost of materials, and if you want to make profit or just break even. As for where to sell him, I've seen people sell puppets both on Etsy and Ebay. As for which is better... that depends more on preference and payment options you want to use.

If you want a set price, you can try Etsy.  If you want to see what the highest possible price you can get, then you want to try Ebay.  But I caution with Ebay as it is an auction and you have a limited time to sell the item.  Most items will not be sold unfortunately.  It is all based on how many people can see your item and who is searching for that particular item.  With Etsy, you have at least three months to try to sell your product at a set price.  To me, this option feels more like an online shop.  I don't like to gamble with business (but I'll visit a casino!  )

The only way you will truly find out is if you try.  You should try both Ebay and Etsy to see which suits your needs most.  Sorry, I don't know too much about Ebay but I do know a lot about Etsy.  I was rather successful selling there.  The plus is that the fees are really low.  There  is only a 20 cent listing fee and of course you pay a little percentage IF the item sells.  So really you only lose out less than a dollar for the first three months if it doesn't sell.  Like I said, it is all about the views so make sure you are up on your tags so people can find you.  Meaning, cover all the possible tags people may search like:  Puppet, hand puppet, teaching aid, theater, toy, etc.  The list goes on and you have to find out what works for you.  I would try either of these sites or both before trying to set up your own website.  The good thing about the bigger online selling sites is that they are already bringing visitors into the search.  My one tip when selling is to make sure you take EXCELLENT pictures.  Be sure to look at other top sellers photographs to get a hint as to what makes people click.  Also, be very clear in your descriptions so that your customers will know what they will be getting.

With pricing, first take into account your costs to make and set a REASONABLE amount for your time.  Then you can tack on a little extra to get your selling price.  You might not pull in the $200 minimum price for a puppet that you see some top sellers will get because they have been doing it for a long time.  You might get $10 to $15 to start.  Keep that in mind when thinking about selling.  Again, you have to try to find out.  You never know unless you take that first step.

Good luck!
Aloha,
Nikole
